Wedding Dress Shopping: What No One Tells You (From a Planner’s POV)
A planner isn’t just there for timelines and vendor calls — we know how to prep you for appointments, recommend trusted boutiques, set realistic expectations, and help keep the focus on your vision, not others’ opinions. We also know how to keep things moving, manage stress, and make sure the dress fits into your overall wedding style and budget.
That’s where having a wedding planner really helps and we thought it’s important to mention some tips when finding the dress.
Sizing can be strange - bridal gowns run at least one or two sizes smaller than your street clothes; so do not freak out with the number you may see.
Start shopping earlier than you think. Gowns can take 6–9 months to arrive, plus another 1–2 months for alterations. So do not feel like you’re being dramatic when shopping 10–12 months.
Fittings are part of the journey so don’t expect a perfect fit off the rack. You’ll likely have 2–3 fittings to sculpt the gown to your body. Trust the process and your seamstress.
Emotions will surprise you. Some brides cry. Some don’t. Some love the first dress. Others need a few appointments. There’s no right way to feel, just focus on what makes you feel like you.
You don’t have to figure it all out alone. With the right support, dress shopping can be what it’s meant to be: joyful, empowering, and absolutely unforgettable!
